Contact time of nanodroplets obliquely impacting nanopillar-arrayed superhydrophobic surfaces: A molecular dynamics study

چکیده
On nanopillar-arrayed superhydrophobic surfaces, the contact time of oblique nanodroplet impacts is for first investigated via molecular dynamics simulations. Here, are triggered by nanodroplets impacting surfaces under various impact angles, α. The simulation results show that owing to non-axisymmetry spreading factors on always less rather than smooth same angles. As angle increased from 5° 65°, is, different conditions, more remarkable as α > 35° instead < at low, medium, and high normal Weber numbers, Wen. Hence, sharp then slowly reduced Wen, which drastically sliding length further promotes rapid reduction in time. constant 35°, h/w 1 aspect ratio nanopillars, h/w, increased, surface conditions. hinders

متن کاملDynamics of nanodroplets on wettability gradient surfaces.
A lubrication model is used to study the dynamics of nanoscale droplets on wettability gradient surfaces. The effects of the gradient size, size of the nanodroplets and the slip on the dynamics have been studied. Our results indicate that the position of the center of mass of the droplets can be well described in terms of a third-order polynomial function of the time of the motion for all the c...
متن کاملDynamics of sliding drops on superhydrophobic surfaces
– We use a free energy lattice Boltzmann approach to investigate numerically the dynamics of drops moving across superhydrophobic surfaces. The surfaces comprise a regular array of posts small compared to the drop size. For drops suspended on the posts the velocity increases as the number of posts decreases. We show that this is because the velocity is primarily determined by the contact angle ...
متن کاملWater impacting on superhydrophobic macrotextures
It has been recently shown that the presence of macrotextures on superhydrophobic materials can markedly modify the dynamics of water impacting them, and in particular significantly reduce the contact time of bouncing drops, compared with what is observed on a flat surface. This finding constitutes a significant step in the maximization of water repellency, since it enables to minimize even fur...
متن کاملInvestigating the interface of superhydrophobic surfaces in contact with water.
Neutron reflectivity (NR) is used to probe the solid, liquid, vapor interface of a porous superhydrophobic (SH) surface submerged in water. A low-temperature, low-pressure technique was used to prepare a rough, highly porous organosilica aerogel-like film. UV/ozone treatments were used to control the surface coverage of hydrophobic organic ligands on the silica framework, allowing the contact a...
